I can tell you the exact date this song was written – 17th March 2016.

This is a distinctive date as it is my brother’s birthday. I’ve note seen my brother for nearly 10 years.  The song started with a riff from Darren James and the theme just flowed.

My brother emigrated to the US in 2004 and contact has been sporadic since. Regretfully there is very limited contact with my folks and no contact with his daughters. The last I heard he was living in Arizona.

He is loved and missed and the lack of communication has caused much heartache.

My brother and I were both fortunate to have been brought up with abundance but equal amounts of love, care, attention and support our parents who, only this week, celebrated 53 years of marriage.

I am very lucky to have a very close relationship with my folks and we all feel frustrated and can’t understand my brother feels unrelated.

Especially as there has been no big bust up or fight. There is only love for him.

The first verse is written from the perspective of his daughter who he has not seen since she was a baby.

The 2nd verse is from the perspective of my mother who unconditionally loves her son and only wants his good health and happiness and is frustrated by the lack of contact and will welcome him with open arms.

The final verse relates to me as a brother – it frustrates me to see our family hurt however I love and miss him unconditionally. He is my blood.
